About Rachel
Rachel Heese, MS, CCC-SLP is an ASHA-certified Speech-Language Pathologist and holds New York State certification as a Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Sciences from the University of Houston in 1994, and obtained a Masters of Science in Communication Disorders from Hunter College in 1998.
Over the past 20 years Rachel has worked with young children, with 11 years clinical experience as a Speech Language Pathologist. Having worked in preschools, special education, child care centers, homes and early intervention settings has provided her with a comprehensive background for understanding the development and remediation of communication skills.
Rachel is trained in specialized therapy techniques such as the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), Oral Motor, and play-based therapy along with experience and training to treat pediatric feeding and swallowing disorders. She also has training in implementing and maintaining augmentative communication systems and treating children with apraxia of speech.
